Propelling SEB to the Karman Line
HEAVYBULB is SEB’s regeneratively-cooled engine for the Eureka-3 testing campaign and spaceshot vehicle. Using Nitrous Oxide and Isopropyl Alcohol as propellants, HEAVYBULB is designed to produce a thrust of 8 kN (2000 lbf). On its first static fire test on April 20, 2024, HEAVYBULB produced a thrust of 11 kN (2600 lbf), exceeding the thrust produced by our previous engine Lightbulb by over 4x.
HEAVYBULB is 3D printed out of Inconel, thanks to the generosity of our sponsor Castheon and the ADDMAN Group.
